Stage 8 is a return to climbing as you make your way up and up along the gravel road of route 408. Don't let the road name fool you, you won't see many vehicles along the way. Towards the end of the stage you'll get great views of Tapanti and you'll descend towards the Orosi river.
The area around El Copal is particularly good for bird watching, so keep your eyes and ears open as you make your way along this section of the trail. The forest and surrounding landscape offer plenty of opportunities to spot birds along the way.
